Young Adult Youth Summit - Program Launch Bridges Gaps to Adulthood
As a part of our vision to deepen impacts in the lives of our youth, we launched our first two Young Adult Youth Summits this year. The goal of the Summits are to sustain success and ongoing transformation for our youth as they move from high school to young adulthood.

The Summits were launched to bridge the gap for our youth between the ages of 19 and 23 who are completing their high school diploma,  attending university or a community college, and career building.  This period in life is often one of great transition and presents unique life challenges.

Created as an extension of the curriculum taught in our high school workshops, the quarterly Summits help our young adults adjust their goals for this new phase of life and engages our mentors with tools on how to support a young adult learner.

We currently serve 81 young adult youth. Hear some of their voices:

“The Young Adult Summits have helped me start to navigate from childhood to adulthood and what it is I want in this new chapter in all aspects of my life, especially in relationships.” — Michelle Z.

“The Young Adult Summits help me understand that to be able to complete a goal that you have been trying to do for a while without your wanted results requires some sort of intervention–whether this is assessing your level of commitment or addressing a concern that is hindering your progress. Addressing these issues is as important as learning how to create organizing and planning tools.  I’m learning new ways to think and approach real life issues in adulthood.”  – Jennifer H.

One way for you to contribute to these young adults and invest in their journey is through Arizona Charitable Tax Credit giving. Click on the link below to learn more!

Charlie and Jana Sample have been a steady supporters of New Pathways for years.  But at a critical moment in our history, Charlie sat down with our CEO Christy McClendon to introduce his friend Ed Lesser to our mission.  Both men and their families share a passion for supporting youth in creating better futures.

During the coffee meeting, Christy shared more about our mission and the Board’s recent commitment to a Capital Expansion Program.  The vision intrigued Charlie and he challenged Christy McClendon with the simple question of “what would it take to have a building our kids deserve.”  What happened next put us on our new journey to impact.

Charlie Sample and Christy

Not only did Charlie help us dream bigger for our youth, he and Jana committed our first $1 million dollar donation and his friend Ed and his wife Emily backed up his investment with an additional $300,000.  These two donations from long-time friends and advocates for youth kicked off the Capital Expansion Program and led us to finding our new home.

On behalf of all of the future youth that will make their own memories in the new building, the youth that will learn to believe in their dreams, THANK YOU, friends, for helping us launch the capital campaign that day.

Here’s a clip of Christy telling the story of Charlie and Ed’s generosity at our recent Transformations Society event:
