Level Up is New Pathways for Youth’s free mentoring program for Phoenix-area teens in grades 8–11 who are navigating adversity. Youth are matched one-on-one with a dedicated adult mentor and supported through trauma-informed programming, community experiences, and consistent staff connection. Together, these supports help youth build confidence, life skills, healthy relationships, and a stronger sense of direction.

By staying engaged in Level Up while continuing their education, youth gain resilience, improve decision-making, strengthen school engagement, and move toward graduation and long-term success with greater confidence.

Level Up is a free mentoring program for Phoenix teens who want support, guidance, and opportunities to grow. You’ll be matched with a mentor who listens, encourages you, and helps you work toward your goals. Along the way, you’ll build confidence, learn new skills, connect with others, and gain tools to succeed in school and life.

Level Up provides Phoenix youth in grades 8–11 with long-term, one-on-one mentoring and personal development support at no cost. If your teen could benefit from a consistent mentor, caring guidance, and a supportive community, Level Up can help.

A Level Up mentor is a trusted adult who shows up, listens, and believes in your teen. Through this lasting relationship, youth gain confidence, skills, and a stronger sense of belonging as they move toward the future they deserve.

Level Up supports students who are bright and capable but facing obstacles that make it harder to stay on track. When you refer a young person, you connect them with a trained mentor, trauma-informed personal development programming, and long-term support at no cost.

Level Up is a free mentoring program for Phoenix-area youth in grades 8–11. Youth are matched 1:1 with a dedicated adult mentor and supported through personal development programming that helps them build confidence and skills to choose their own path.

Level Up is for Phoenix-area teens in grades 8–11 (generally ages 13–17), especially youth who would benefit from having a consistent, trusted adult and a supportive community alongside them.

In Level Up, youth build a relationship with a mentor who has been carefully selected, trained, and continually supported by New Pathways for Youth. Mentors participate in ongoing training to learn how to best support young people and to contribute to a community that works together to ensure safety and belonging for everyone in the program. Over time, youth and mentors develop a strong connection through weekly check-ins (especially during the first year) and monthly programming that includes Power Ups, skill-building sessions, and enrichment activities.

Level Up is built for long-term mentoring, with mentors committing to at least one year—because consistency is essential for meaningful growth and stability. Most mentor–youth matches choose to stay in the Level Up program through the teen’s high school graduation, providing a steady, supportive relationship during some of the most important years of their lives.

Many core experiences take place at NPFY’s Homebase at 901 E. Jefferson St., Phoenix, AZ 85034. Additional activities are hosted at community locations that support academic and personal growth for youth in the program, such as libraries, museums, colleges, and universities.

There are also community outings that may include attending sports games, lectures, classes, and physical activities, giving youth additional opportunities to connect, explore new interests, and build confidence in supportive environments.

Level Up includes a structured starting experience called Level Up Launch, where youth and mentors begin their journey together, and staff observe interactions. After that, Level Up staff partner a licensed child psychologist to make careful and intentional matches aimed at supporting strong, lasting relationships.

Level Up Launch is a 3.5-day immersive experience hosted at NPFY Homebase where youth and mentors meet each other, build connections, and are introduced to the Level Up curriculum through activities, games, and discussion. Launch is the moment “where transformation begins” and it helps set the foundation for what follows.

Level Up creates great outcomes for young people, including high school graduation and continued education/training. Over the years, we have consistently found that 95% of Level Up youth graduate from high school, and 80% go on to college or other further education, along with improved personal wellness and prevention of harmful behaviors. 

Youth work toward school and future goals through program support—examples include working on school projects, jobs, college, and financial aid, as well as personal goals and life skills, with specific focus on emotional well-being and health. 

Level Up is a FREE program for youth and families. 

New Pathways emphasizes supporting the full system around youth by actively engaging caregivers as critical partners in youth development. This includes Caregiver-Youth Goal Conversations, support calls with Program Coordinators, and ongoing opportunities for connection through family-centered programming in our Caregiver Circle program. The organization also facilitates periodic family engagement events—including the End of Year Celebration and Resource Fair—which provide caregivers with tools, community connections, and meaningful ways to support their youth’s growth and success.
