PATHWAYS! November 2018
This month we will launch our 55th mentoring community with their 3-day intensive retreat. These mentors and youth will become part of the New Pathways family, just like hundreds and hundreds of mentoring matches before them. These youth and mentors will use the tools from this retreat to begin breaking through their self-destructive thought patterns and unveiling new possibilities for their future. These intensive retreats are a unique and essential component of our program.
In fact, none of what we do would be possible without these retreats. The retreat matches our youth to their mentor, begins to build a connected community of mentors and other youth, and introduces our youth and mentors to the powerful opportunities for growth and development that are available inside our personal development curriculum. This powerful three prong approach to ending poverty – relationships with stable, caring adults in a connected community, together with monthly socio-emotional, personal development, and life skill workshops, break the cycle of poverty and adversity in our youths’ live.
Matches beginning their mentoring journey!
The highlight of the retreat is the matching ceremony. After three days of intense work, identifying and exploring how our self-defeating thoughts limit us, challenging our willingness to be vulnerable and authentic, and bearing witness to the transformations and breakthroughs of our fellow youth and mentors, mentoring matches are finally made! These relationships are the bedrock of our program. It’s inside these relationships that possibilities are explored. It’s inside these relationships that futures are revealed. It’s inside these relationships that lives are forever altered.
We are currently recruiting mentors for our upcoming community launch. If you are interested in an unequaled, unparalleled, and incomparable experience, consider becoming a mentor today!

For nearly 30 years, New Pathways for Youth has served youth experiencing poverty and adversities such as parent incarceration, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, and high school dropout. Our comprehensive approach to 1-1 mentoring in connected communities of other mentors and youth breaks through self-destructive thinking to empower youth to achieve a future of college and career success.
This is what the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit makes possible! Not only does your contribution make a difference for our youth, but through the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit all donations up to $800 for couples and $400 for individuals could provide a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for you.
To donate, go to www.npfy.org/donate. Support our youth and make your tax credit donation today!
Any donation made prior to April 15, 2019 can be applied to your 2018 taxes. This is separate from the school and foster care tax credits, so you can claim all three deductions. Please consult a tax advisor for further details or visit www.azdor.gov for more information.
Help us fill our volunteer gap at any one of these upcoming activities and projects!
