NPFY Secures Six-figure Emergency Education Grant

We are thrilled to announce New Pathways for Youth has secured $500,000 in Federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) discretionary funding from the Arizona Department of Education. This funding enables New Pathways to expand our transformational holistic development program to serve more than 1,000 Phoenix students over the next two to three years – growth that will more than double New Pathways’ organizational impact.

Recent research has shown that FAFSA completion has dropped from 46% last year to only 38% this year – and both public community colleges and universities have seen a decline in enrollment on a national scale. This ESSER funding will enable New Pathways for Youth to support Phoenix students as they graduate high school, pursue their post-secondary goals and achieve their goals.

“This grant is an inflection point for Arizona’s future,” said New Pathways for Youth Board Chair Jennifer Murray. “Hundreds more youth can now be welcomed into our program, and we know when they succeed in school and beyond, our community will be that much stronger.”

“The Arizona Department of Education is proud to support Arizona students and families by investing in New Pathways for Youth,” said Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman. “New Pathways is doing the critical work of preparing students for post-secondary education, which in turn, builds a stronger, better Arizona. I’m grateful for this partnership and the impact it will have for students and families.”

New Pathways for Youth provides a research-based holistic development program and 1:1 mentoring within community groups to Phoenix youth who experience poverty and four times the adversity of their peers. Each one receives individualized action planning, connections to critical resources for personal well-being, and daily necessities that support the youth’s entire family, ranging from housing assistance to food security to emergency relief, providing essential stability. Learn more about our process.
