PATHWAYS! May 2023

Exciting Changes Are Around the Corner!

Here’s a Sneak Peak

We have very exciting news –

Our youth program is getting its own name!

To highlight the transformational impact of our youth program, it needed an identity of its own. We wanted a name that accurately represented what our program is all about, and the unique impact it has on the lives of our youth and mentors. We also wanted to make sure the messaging and visual components of that name were cohesive and aligned with New Pathways’ core brand.

After doing focus groups with our youth to better understand what aspects of our program resonate with them the most, we went through an intentional creative development process to develop a new name, tagline, and visual identity that felt most authentic to our program and the extraordinary youth who participate in it.

This summer, we are beyond thrilled to introduce Level Up.

Our program is all about giving youth the support, stability, and skills they need to harness their own power, choose their own path, and level up their lives. With this brand new look and identity for our program, we can’t wait to take our impact to the next level and help even more youth in our community reach their full potential.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates ahead!

Congrats to Our Graduates!

This month, 21 New Pathways youth are graduating from high school! Congratulations to our hard-working grads on this incredible achievement. Here is an update from some of our grads:

Oscar

When Mark was matched with his mentee Oscar eight years ago, one of their first goals was working toward a high school diploma. Although this journey came with a lot of obstacles, there were countless big wins and achievements along the way. He became a father at a young age, struggled with addiction, and went in and out of prison, but never once lost hope. Not only did he earn his diploma, he’s earning a steady income, fostering an amazing relationship with his son, and seeking treatment for his addiction. He’s a graduate and he’s not stopping there, as he now wants to pursue business school! We’re proud of his countless achievements and look forward to seeing more of his journey.

Ray

If you were at our Stories of Transformation Breakfast, then you remember Ray. They were on stage with their mentor Ellie and opened up about the struggles they’ve faced with mental health. Ray shared that they were able to seek help and foster a relationship with their mentor and peers, which provided more opportunities to work on their mental health. It’s been a continuous journey of growth, and now they’re graduating high school! Ray has a full-ride scholarship at NAU to study Psychology, and we couldn’t be more proud.

Graduating high school is a huge step in all of our journeys toward finding our purpose and achieving our full potential. To celebrate this amazing milestone, we’ll be hosting a joint graduation party for our graduates at both of our workshops in May, where we’ll have several postsecondary groups joining us for a mini education and career fair.

Playing Pickleball to Benefit Our Youth

In March, local accounting company DebitFire held a pickleball tournament to benefit New Pathways for Youth. All proceeds from the event went toward NPFY, and several New Pathways community members got to play in the tournament! Thank you to DebitFire for helping to transform the lives of youth and their families in our community with this fun and impactful event.

Want to support New Pathways at your next event? You can involve New Pathways by allowing us to table or speak, or you could donate a portion of the proceeds. Please reach out to our team at njensen@npfy.org to plan out all the logistics.

We’re excited to continue supporting our youth on whatever paths they choose – we know there is a bright future ahead for each and every one of you!
