PATHWAYS! July 2023

Help Our Youth Thrive This School Year

Last month, over 25 of our youth celebrated their high school graduation. As they each shared their journey leading up to this amazing accomplishment, we realized a common denominator for every student: high school can be stressful, especially leading up to graduation.

As our students head back to school in August, we want to ensure they have everything they need to have a successful year – including the tools to relieve stress and better their mental health. That’s why we’re collecting coloring books and markers for all of our youth, as mindful coloring and art provides them with a creative outlet to destress, ease anxiety, and positively impact their well-being.

Want to get involved and help our youth succeed this school year? Visit our Target registry to donate in our back to school drive before July 31st. You can ship the items directly to our center, or drop them off at the address below:

Showcasing Our Youth’s Talent & Local Pride

In June, our youth completed two art projects with Xico, one of the oldest ethnic arts organizations in the United States promoting Latino and Indigenous culture through art and community engagement. Xico helps to further art-based programming, showcase emerging and established artists, and engage under-served populations in the creation of meaningful local art for the community to enjoy.

Our youth created a mural to go on display in our friendship lounge, as well as personalized linoleum artwork – both of which centered around the Arizona desert. The mural depicts a beautiful desert landscape and features several native desert animals. For the linoleum pieces, the youth chose from several different desert-themed subjects and carved their interpretation into a piece of linoleum.

We’re so proud of the incredible art our youth created and how they were able to showcase their love for their home state through art. We’re also grateful that our New Pathways staff, youth, and mentors will get to enjoy it for years to come.

Save the Date – “Champions of Transformation” Is Coming Soon!

Our Transformations Society event, “Champions of Transformation,” will be held on Thursday, October 5th. At this year’s signature Fall event, we’ll be honoring two outstanding champions of New Pathways for Youth and their contributions to helping youth in our community flourish. We will also be hosting a silent auction and raffle during the celebration.

The event will be held at Events on Jackson from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Make sure to get it on your calendar and join us for an uplifting night of celebration and community!
