PATHWAYS! May 2021

New Horizon: Relaunching our Retreats

Throughout the past year, COVID-19 has forced us to adjust the pacing of our plans for expansion. We’ve been eagerly looking forward to relaunching our regular enrollment schedule, and today we’re overjoyed to be sharing some big news.

By August, we’ll have launched three retreats – enrolling new youth in the New Pathways program for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. These retreats are pivotal to our program expansion vision. We imagine serving 1,000 youth every year and doubling our impact – this is a meaningful step toward that future.

These young people and their families, all from Maryvale, have been waiting to join our program for so long. As vaccinations continue, we finally have an opportunity to safely make it happen.

Finally, we cannot enroll youth without mentors to match with them. If you believe in the power of transformational change and are ready to make an impact (or know somebody who is), you can discover more at a virtual mentor introduction session. Join us at npfy.org/get-involved/.

Achieving the Unforeseen: New Possibilities through Education

In recent issues of PATHWAYS!, we’ve been sharing updates on our ongoing initiative to ensure our students have the tools to be successful as they navigate the learning environment gap. We’re setting a goal to raise $15,000 before the end of our fiscal year to complete this educational initiative, and we need your investment to get there.

We’ve been working with our partner school districts to direct resources where they’re most needed, and readers like you have invested through their 2021 tax filings, taking advantage of the dollar-for-dollar tax credit. Now, the school year is coming to an end. But that doesn’t mean we’re slowing down. Our youth are still pursuing their educational goals, and we’re supporting them every step of the way. Your investment is crucial, and investing through your 2021 tax return is one of the easiest ways to be a part of this initiative. Fortunately, the deadline for tax credit contributions has been extended to May 17th!

That means there is still an opportunity to make a transformational impact through this year’s taxes. You can receive a dollar-for-dollar credit on your taxes when you make a charitable donation to New Pathways: up to $400 per person and up to $800 for married couples. You can claim this deduction even if you won’t itemize your 2020 return. As always, please consult your tax professional for additional details.

We like to honor “Who We Have” – the New Pathways community members who invest in our work, serve as mentors, and support the youth we serve. Who we have got us here. You can get us past the finish line.

Give Like Olivia

Most people don’t get involved in philanthropy until they’re well into adulthood. Olivia Lang isn’t most people. Olivia, a 7th grader in our community, recently celebrated her Bat Mitzvah – but instead of accepting gifts, she directed her friends and family to give to New Pathways.

Her passion and selflessness turned into $10,500 in investments! That gift will create transformational opportunities for young people in our community, fully funding several new enrollments in the New Pathways program.

Olivia is in 7th grade! If she can do it, we know that you can too. Consider hosting an event, even virtually, on behalf of New Pathways – or choose New Pathways as a beneficiary of your next celebration! It’s a fantastic way to celebrate life’s milestones while creating new possibilities for young people in our community. We’ll be right there to support you and answer your questions.
