PATHWAYS! Feb. 2021

The Countdown is On for the Annual Breakfast!

We are two weeks away from our Annual Breakfast — a powerful and interactive virtual community gathering on the morning of Feb. 23, 2021. We’re so excited for you to hear from our youth and members‒ celebrating the new possibilities and transformation that you make possible.

The past year has been a powerful reminder of how dependent we are on the people we have in our lives. When you and your people show up for our youth, you are ensuring they receive the support they need throughout and beyond the pandemic. And this year, because of a generous $100,000 match from a New Pathways investor, your donations will be doubly impactful, dollar for dollar.

Check out this sneak peek of how your support has impacted our youth.

If you haven’t registered yet, there’s still time! Go to NPFY.org/breakfast to RSVP. If you have registered, please consider inviting 5 or more friends to attend as well.

Transformational Impact for our Youth

Many in our community are concerned about the long-term effects of the pandemic on our youth. Last March, nearly one year ago, we adapted our services to meet the immediate safety, wellbeing, and academic needs of our youth, and while we are continuing to provide these services, we have not lost sight of their lasting developmental needs.

We’ve been in constant reflection and applied learning to meet our youth in an intentional way as they face a lot of tough challenges.

One of those challenges is online virtual learning. When there’s five students sharing a bedroom and a single laptop, just attending class can feel like an insurmountable task. New Pathways is stepping in, calling in our partners, and building tailored plans to approach each student’s individual challenges.

We continue to work closely with the Phoenix Union High School District, where most of our youth are enrolled. Our investors are making sure every youth has what they need to be successful with online learning, ensuring  laptops, hotspots and other tools are available to them. Our mentors and team of case managers are also working with each youth to build or find an environment conducive to learning. We are also focused on guiding our youth who are socially disconnected. We are diligently researching how a year of social isolation affects our teens. We are designing and integrating content into our curriculum and coaching to mitigate these long-term developmental implications. We are building the resiliency skills for our youth to face these challenges. There is clarity and consistency in New Pathways holistic development model, which will guide us in serving our youth to fill the gaps brought on by the pandemic.

As always, you are a vital part of making this work happen. To be a part of this crucial developmental work , contact Christy McClendon, cmcclendon@npfy.org

Grow your Impact

Our investors are committed to supporting our youth in their individual journeys to shape their unwritten futures. When you become a part of the Hope Giving Circle, your impact is maximized.

The Hope Giving Circle provides an opportunity for our closest supporters to pledge their ongoing commitment to our youth over 3 to 5 years, maximizing their investment and building even bigger transformational change. Transformation, One Step at a Time

In just a short time at New Pathways, Dorian is already walking the path toward a future full of new possibilities .He and his mentor Jake talk a lot about the small steps that lead to transformational growth.

Dorian is committed to spending less time in his room and more time having conversations with his family. He’s even opened up to them about some of his goals and what he wants to work on.

We are so looking forward to launching our regular retreat schedule once again. In preparation, , we are busy building up a pipeline full of mentors like Jake to be matched with youth like Dorian this summer. Invite a friend who you think would be a great mentor to learn about volunteering at our virtual mentor introduction session.
