From Graduation to Growth: NPFY’s Young Adult Programs in Action

PHOENIX — At New Pathways for Youth, turning 18 or graduating high school isn’t the end of the journey, it’s the beginning of a new chapter.
Becoming a young adult is like leveling up in the game of life. The challenges become more complex, the decisions more impactful. That’s why NPFY’s support doesn’t stop at graduation. Where many support systems end, NPFY continues. Youth in the program don’t age and walk alongside them through age 21, offering consistent mentorship, guidance and opportunities for growth.
Through our Young Adult Programs, participants engage in career development, life readiness and personal transformation. Many continue the relationships they built with mentors years ago, connections that have matured into powerful partnerships for life.
On Saturday, June 7, NPFY hosted a “Power Up” session titled “Identity: Who Am I Becoming?” The session invited youth to reflect on how culture, values, gender and experience shape identity. Through honest dialogue and reflection, they strengthened their self-awareness and left with practical tools to support their growth and those around them.
After a celebratory lunch honoring those stepping into this new stage of life, the afternoon transformed into a game show-style challenge. Mentors and youth faced off in fast-paced team competitions that brought out laughter, leadership and a little friendly rivalry. With music blasting and cheering all around, the experience felt like a live taping: fun, energetic and full of meaning. These activities tested teamwork, communication and quick thinking, while reinforcing the strong bonds at the heart of NPFY.
We’re proud of these young adults—curious, hopeful and ready to take on what’s next. And we’re deeply grateful to our mentors, staff and supporters for you for making it possible for our youth to level up—not just once, but at every stage of their journey.
