Charlie Sample: Friend and Supporter of New Pathways for Youth
Phoenix, AZ. July 15th, 2024.- We want to honor and celebrate the life and legacy of our dear friend and benefactor, Charles Waddel Sample. Charlie passed away on July 3, 2024, at the age of 88 years, leaving behind a legacy of generosity and unwavering dedication to the youth of our community.
Charlie was the beloved husband of Jana Sample for 63 wonderful years. He was a loving father and a proud grandfather. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and the University of Chicago, Charlie enjoyed a distinguished 40-year career with Lockup Development Company. His professional success was matched only by his dedication to philanthropy. Charlie’s involvement with New Pathways for Youth was not just about financial contributions; he invested his time, wisdom, and heart into our mission.
“The Samples believed so much in the mission and the work of New Pathways, that they made the first major leadership gift of our capital campaign,” shared President & CEO Karen D. Johnson, Ph.D. “Their gift was the impetus for our move to a new building on Jefferson St and our vision of serving more youth.”
Charlie’s legacy is immeasurable and will live on through every youth we support with our programs. We invite our community to honor his memory by following his example and investing in the future of our youth. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in his memory be made to New Pathways for Youth. You can donate on Charlie’s behalf here,
